Piecewise Surface Flattening for Non - Distorted
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper introduces new techniques for interactive piecewise at-tening of parametric3-D surfaces, leading to a non-distorted,hence realistic, texture mapping. Cuts are allowed on the mapped texture and we make a compromise between discontinuities and distortions. These techniques are based on results from diierential geometry, more precisely on the notion of \geodesic curvature": isoparametric curves of the surface are mapped, in a constructive way, onto curves in the texture plane with preservation of geodesic curvature at each point. As an application, we give a concrete example which is a rst step towards an eecient and robust CAD tool for shoe modeling.

WireWarping: A fast surface flattening approach with length-preserved feature curves
This paper presents a novel approach – WireWarping for computing a flattened planar piece with length-preserved feature curves from a 3D piecewise linear surface patch. The property of lengthpreservation on feature curves is very important to industrial applications for controlling the shape and dimension of products fabricated from planar pieces. WireWarping simulates warping a given 3D surfac...
متن کاملNon-Distorted Texture Mapping Using Angle Based Flattening
This article introduces a new method for surface parameterization for texture mapping. In the first step of the algorithm we compute a planar triangulation of the faceted surface, using an Angle Based Flattening (ABF) formulation. This provides a mapping function from a three-dimensional surface to the plane. The ABF formulation defines the flattening problem as a constrained minimization probl...

With the advent of cheap indoor RGB-D sensors, proper representation of piecewise planar depth images is crucial toward an effective compression method. Although there exist geometrical wavelets for optimal representation of piecewise constant and piecewise linear images (i.e. wedgelets and platelets), an adaptation to piecewise linear fractional functions which correspond to depth variation ov...
متن کاملNon-distorting Flattening for Virtual Colonoscopy
In this paper, we consider a novel 3D visualization technique based on surface flattening for virtual colonoscopy. Such visualization methods could be important in virtual colonoscopy since they have the potential for non-invasively determining the presence of polyps and other pathologies. Further, we demonstrate a method which presents a surface scan of the entire colon as a cine, and affords ...
متن کاملDistorted Reflector Antennas: Radiation Pattern Sensitivity to the Surface Distortions
The high-frequency performance of the reflector antennas is mainly limited by the surface. It has been shown that distortions on different regions of the reflector surface can have different effects on the radiation performance. In other words, degradation of the radiation pattern due to the presence of surface distortions is sensitive to the location and behavior of the surface distortion prof...
